REQUESTING A MASS TO BE OFFERED
It is the teaching and belief of the Church that from the celebration of Holy Mass we obtain the graces and strength needed for the journey through life. A Holy Mass can be celebrated for a variety of intentions of the living and especially for deceased loved ones.
The Mission Office gladly assists with arrangements for the celebration of Masses. Most offerings and intentions are forwarded to our monasteries primarily in Africa but also in Asia as well as priests in mission lands. For this reason we cannot guarantee that a Mass is offered on a specific date. Be assured that all Holy Masses requested will be offered individually and at the earliest convenience of the celebrant.
The pious custom of celebrating Gregorian Masses for thirty days is based on the long-standing tradition of a thirty-day mourning and praying for the deceased. A series of thirty Masses celebrated on thirty consecutive days, pastoral circumstances permitting, can be arranged for the repose of the soul of a departed loved one. The celebration of these Masses is passed on to our mission monasteries and missionaries so no specific date can be given.
OFFERING FOR A MASS
An offering of $10 is the suggested donation for each Holy Mass. For Gregorian Masses an offering of $500 is suggested.
